How do you start your day?  This is a question that I get often from people as they tend to think that as a Life Coach I must have the “perfect morning routine” that will charge my body, prepare my mind and infuse my spirit for the day to come.

Well I hate to break it to you straight out the gate but my morning routine although refined from years and years of precise tuning is good for me, it might not be the best for YOU!

Here is why… I am not you.  I don’t know what you are going through, what you need or where you are at in your life.  My morning routine as a 37 year old single male is going to look drastically different than that of a 20 year old college student or a 42 year old single mother of two.

With that said, there are some foundational routines that you can do each morning that will help you set the tempo of your day to be the best that it can!  I break my morning into 3 parts of Wake up, Charge up and Work/workout as I have found that although what happens in those 3 parts might change over time, everyday I will go through each one.

So without further ado I present to you my *current* daily routine.

WAKE UP 6:00 – 6:30 am:

This is what time I wake up each morning using my Light Alarm Clock and my Eight Sleep Pod.  Giving yourself a 30 minute window to wake up allows for your body to naturally come out of your sleep cycle instead of being jolted out of bed with a traditional alarm clock.

Before I get out of bed there is one VERY important step that I take before putting my feet on the floor and that is putting my hands in the air and saying “YES!” to celebrate that I have been given another day.  This is a crucial step because it starts my day with gratitude which immediately gives me a boost of serotonin and points my mind and heart in the right direction.

I will then MAKE MY BED as it is the first thing that I can do for my day and for my future self.  After I make my bed I grab the book “The Greatest Salesman in the world” and read from one of the “scrolls” out loud as if I am speaking to a crowd of a thousand.  This along with repeating my core values helps me to establish the man I will be regardless of what is to come.

CHARGE UP 6:30 – 7:00:

This is when I start my charge up routine which is focused on giving 30 minutes to myself so that I can be ready for the day.  I start off by going to the bathroom where I use a tongue scrapper first to get the nighttime bacteria off my tongue before I splash my face with cold water and then apply Fatco Face Cream and Disco Stick to my face.

After I apply my face cream I use a tool called Gua Sha to help with lymphatic drainage and swelling from laying on my face all night. This is one of my favorite things that I do for myself in the morning because I am massaging my face and freshening up to start my day!

I then brush my teeth with Risewell Toothpaste which is a fluoride free mineral based toothpaste that is paraben free, vegan and cruelty free. This toothpaste is completely different from anything that I have used before and is well worth the investment!

After the bathroom I head to the kitchen where I fill up my 32oz Hydro Flask with filtered water and 1 packet of LMNT electrolytes with a scoop of Bub’s MCT Oil.  I then boil some water for my morning Chicory Root drink that helped me break the habit of having coffee first thing in the morning.

I then will go on a 5-10 min walk to allow my eyes to be introduced to the morning sun which will help to set my circadian rhythm for the day.  When I return home I will either read my bible or do a quick 5-10 min stretch routine to help prime my body for the day.

WORK/WORKOUT 7:00 – 9:00

This is where the energy really starts to ramp up as I am going to commit the next hour to bringing the energy up either by going straight into a workout, getting into an hour of focused work or both

This is really going to depend on the day yet what I have found is if I can get an hour of focused work in first thing in the morning and then roll into a workout I feel completely energized as I have already knocked out a task for the day and invested into my health before most people get to work.

This obviously is where it is going to differ for a lot of people as you may not have the ability to do an hour of work first thing in the morning because you have kids, significant others or need to be to work.  Yet if you haven’t tried getting an hour’s worth of work done first thing in the morning I encourage you to try and see how it feels!

If you have made it this far in the blog you now know what it’s like to go through the morning of a “life coach” including all of the products that I use to help create the best day ever!  As I said in the beginning, everyone’s morning is going to be different depending on where you are at in life yet having a daily routine is vital to set you up for success each day!
